Wendy and I went to Pirates Press today to deliver the audio files for our upcoming EP ‘First Stone’ from our band Andalusia Rose. We started this recording project early last year and expected to have it out by now, but with the recording itself taking longer than expected, the recording and mixing sessions being spread out over a few months, and the artwork being caught up with one artist who had too much on their plate, we finally handed it off to another guy who has gotten us where we need to be
Being a self proclaimed vinyl junkie and record collector since the age of 6, It has been a lifelong dream for me to release a piece of vinyl. It was a fun and informative experience to go and visit Pirates Press, though they don’t have any actual presses there, it was cool to see the operation and the massive amounts of samples of packages and pressings they have done.
They had some turntables set up and a cozy listening area, I’m sure many good times are to be had here.
Here’s some vinyl ‘pucks’. Vinyl in it’s raw state.
Luckily right now they are doing about a 2 week turnaround for tests so there should be an update when we get our test pressings in hand! Can’t wait to drop the needle!
It’s been far too long since I’ve posted but that is fine since I’ve been busy with some other stuff.
Rehearsals have begun for a March 29th Gun Club Tribute at The Make Out Room San Francisco. I’ve been recruited to play bass and possibly guitar on some stuff. More on that as it approaches.
PATTI SMITH AT THE FILLMORE SF JAN 23rd/24th
Patti Smith did 3 nights at The Fillmore and we attended 2 of those shows, both Friday and Saturday were amazing and each slightly different but equally entertaining.

ANDALUSIA ROSE JAN 28TH AT DNA
Andalusia Rose had a show at DNA on the 28th and that was fun. This time around, we brought a little love and light to the metal kids. We played with Witchburn from Seattle and they really brought it. The vibe was dark that night as just a few hours previous there was a suitcase full of body parts discovered near Market and 11th st. I could see the cop cars and forensic units where they had the streets blocked off just about 2 blocks from where we were playing. Also around that time there was a huge fire in The Mission District. Inside DNA we raged! Kinnefret and Hemorage also played.
WITCHBURN VIDEO CLIPS
I don’t have any photo’s from our set yet, but here is a shot of Wendy during her pre-show Yoga (we call it ‘showga’) session.

LUGGAGE STORE GALLERY SF JAN 29th
Once again I got to team up with Mark Pino (IPI) and we threw down a set at The Luggage Store Gallery. It was the first thing I’ve done with the Outsound Collective and I hope to do more in the future. We shared the bill with Onewayness who is one guy Adam Holquist from Erie PA which is actually my old neck ‘o’ the woods as I grew up in Buffalo and had a few friends and bandmates from there! It was nice to share the space with a fellow artist from, pretty much, where I’m from! He was on the West Coast to take part in The Aural Films sprawling 4 day event Fog Music Festival which Mark was also a a part of.
Onewayness had a few pieces of electronics that I’m familiar with such as the Korg Monotribe and the Alchemy synth app as well as a ‘Make Noise’ set up that I kinda drooled over for a moment. His set consisted of really lovely layered textures in an Ambient format with some minimal beat work. A nice, dark and drifting long form piece that you can see and hear most of in the video below. Our sounds complimented each other quite well.
